Christmas Week has begun and the family (especially the kids) are all getting ready to celebrate the holiday. Yes, we're all excited about Santa's upcoming visit but we're also reminding ourselves of why we're celebrating this season to begin with. It's a holy season and despite the complete secularization of Christmas, the Gulbransen house is "Keeping Christ in Christmas."
This is always my favorite time of the year (next to the 4th of July) and I truly enjoy the quiet reflection it brings. This year has been tough as the season as seemed to fly by. Being so busy at the office this year, I feel like I haven't had a chance to even enjoy it as I usually do. The pressures of work and supporting the family are just overwhelming right now so I am looking forward to a few days off to recharge the batteries.

We did go with my folks to visit Santa Claus yesterday here in Carlsbad yesterday. The trip went well, but Michael did shed his traditional first visit with Santa tears.
Most of all, this season reminds me of how thankful I am for all that God has given me. Primarily my family - my wife Elie and my beautiful kids. I am also thankful for all of those people who treat me and my family with respect and dignity. This time of the year you learn a lot about people. Those who give and really care and those who don't. Let's pray for those who find it hard to give.
More on Christmas!
God bless,
Scott
